Like most everything in 2020, the Barton Foundation's 30th annual gala had a new twist: it was presented virtually in response to the pandemic.
Community members rallied in support of the Barton Foundation’s COVID-19 Response Fund, which was established in the spring of 2020 to provide financial support for families and individuals faced with food insecurity issues.
Thanks to the generosity of hundreds of donors, a record-breaking $126,000 was raised, surpassing last year’s previous high of $90,000. 100% of the event’s proceeds benefit the COVID-19 Response Fund.
By March 2021, the COVID-19 Response Fund had granted over $325,000 to 2,000 families and individuals in South Lake Tahoe.
“The Gala is a celebration of the exceptional care that is provided each and every day at Barton Health,” said Chris Kiser, Executive Director of the Barton Foundation. “The outpouring of support that we received for the Response Fund was incredible, and we are very thankful. Knowing that the event proceeds were designated to address food insecurity issues in our community made it even more gratifying.”
